A Half-Day Everglades Trip from Downtown Miami

Most visitors think the Everglades is a full-day commitment. It isn’t. From Brickell or downtown Miami, the sawgrass starts about 40 minutes west on Tamiami Trail, and a private airboat ride fits easily between breakfast and a late lunch.

How the morning works

Head west on SW 8th Street until the city falls away and the horizon opens into grass and water. Our departure point is 17696 SW 8th Street. Plan to arrive 15 minutes before your time so there’s no rush.

From there it’s you, your group and your captain. A private ride means no crowded benches and no fixed script. Want to stop and photograph a gator sunning on the bank? You stop. Want to open it up across the open water? Just ask.

What you’ll see

Alligators, turtles and wading birds are the regulars. Mornings tend to be calmer and cooler, and the light on the sawgrass is beautiful for photos. If you’re new to airboats and want to know what to expect before you go, the Airboating Everglades visitor guide covers it.

Back in the city by lunch

Choose a 1, 1.5 or 2-hour ride, and you’re back on Tamiami Trail with the whole afternoon still ahead. We run Monday to Saturday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and we’re closed Sundays.
